Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro climb is not easy, which must be physically fit and properly equipped. The high altitude, low temperatures and climate (wind, snow and ice) make travel difficult and dangerous. Most roads will take about 7 days walking and can acclimatize a few days, altitude sickness, require a disturbing reality. All walkers will be significant discomfort, shortness of breath, headaches and suffering hypothermia worsens, the higher you climb. Must be prepared physically, because you have to walk up and down over a longer period of time, while the breathing less oxygen than normal. The best time to climb Mount Kilimanjaro during the hottest and driest months, usually January, February and September are the best, and so to the ears. From June to August is also good, but the temperature is cooler.

There are seven routes up Kilimanjaro Lemosho, Machame, Marangu, North Road, Rongai, Shira and Umbwe. The Rongai route is the northern mountains. Machame, Marangu and Umbwe south and decency to Mweka. The Lemosho, North Loop, West and Shira. Kilimanjaro is divided into five zones, each has its own characteristics, climate and ecology:

Arctic - + 5000m (16,500ft +) named after the ice and rock landscape, oxygen levels are average relative sea level, almost no plants and animals, and the nights are very cold

The Machame route takes six or seven days is very difficult and the most suitable for walkers with some hiking experience of a few days when the road is steep and the days longer. It starts in the south Shira Camp 2 earlier in the east of the Lava Tower, Barranco and Barafu to Uhuru Peak. Then take the Mweka route there.

Lemosho routes takes 6-8 days. It has some of the best views and has relatively little traffic. It starts in the west, crossing the mountains of Shira Shira Camp. He then joined the Machame route through Lava Tower, Barranco and Barafu to Uhuru Peak.

El Camino Nordschleife takes 9 days and is the newest and longest distance. It has great views and scenery and low number of hikers. The route begins in the west along the road Lemosho Lava Tower and then take the southern crossing the northern slopes around Uhuru Peak before be followed after the Mweka route.

The Rongai route takes six or seven days, and the only way to get close to Kilimanjaro from the north. It is popular for hikers in the rainy season, because it is less rain than the south side. Bring Rongai caves, second and Mawenzi Tarn Hut Kikelewa before west to Uhuru Peak. Take along the Marangu route.

Before and after the divorce There are hotels in Moshi and some in the Kilimanjaro National Park. Your tour operator can find accommodation on tour or you need to book a room in advance. All other options have campsites with toilets and showers, no very simple conditions.
